    Thank you for sharing your expertise. I passed the 608 general several years ago partly with your older videos & ESCO study guide (was told by test proctor I got the highest score he had ever seen, don't recall if it was perfect or not). Now reviewing as this is not something I use on a daily basis. Watching your newer videos I cannot help but notice the difficulty you have with the surgical type mask. One suggestion I can't resist making from an Occupational Medicine point of view: you would be much better off with an N95 respirator (the type with elastic around back of head, better seal around nose, don't constantly fall below your nose/mouth, and actually prevent covid infections, unlike the surgical masks). I have found that the disposable HDX N95's available at big box stores (like HD) are very comfortable, don't touch my nose, and so far me or my spouse have not NO COVID in 4 years using them religiously indoors. Pack of 10 (or even 30) is cheap & they can be used for a week or longer each if kept dry. If school supplies a different kind & you can't afford the better type (unlikely), one suggestion is to twist the straps on the KN95/surgical mask type ear loops before wrapping them around the ear. This takes up some slack & helps keep them in place better. Sorry, I couldn't resist adding this because I saw you struggling with the surgical masks, and also because I believe that masks get a bad reputation for effectiveness (or ineffectiveness) when they are not worn properly -- like wearing gloves with holes in them while working with acid - just doesn't work as well! Again, terrific lectures, and very important knowledge, thanks for sharing.

    First thing you should do for any refrigeration/ac call is grab the suction line and the liquid line, every time. You’ll immediately know if that compressor is running, and based on how hot/cold the lines are you can make a determination if it’s low on refrigerant. Also touch that compressor and feel how hot it is. You can troubleshoot and rule out a lot of potential issues just by feeling the temp of different components

    On refrigerators that cost over $1,000, why doesn't the manufacturer have this restart device built-in to the refrigerator? I can see how easily it could be implemented but I assume they won't because it will devalue you technicians.

    Question: I already passed core and type 1. Have to go back for type 2/3 . the instructor says you can write down the chart for vacuum on a scratch PC of paper for the test. However rules say you can only take pressure chart "blank" PC of paper and calculator. So who's right???

    • @edisonhvac
      @edisonhvac Місяць тому

      You can do this while the proctor is getting ready on your piece of blank paper. If you do it while he is reading the instruction or when he says begin then that is ok You are not supposed to be able to bring any prewritten notes into the testing center. Why would a recovery tank be labeled “Virgin” ?

    • @edisonhvac
      @edisonhvac Місяць тому

      Some donated equipment was too badly damaged to use, but was still pre-charged with either R-22 (until 2010) and currently R-410a. We would scrap the unit for training parts and recover the never used or “virgin” refrigerant into a separate tank for student use later.

    I was just taking a look at my EPA 608 universal after obtaining it over 5+ years ago. I watched all your EPA 608 videos and went down to the local testing and passed it first try. These videos were way more helpful than the actual in-person education I was learning. During my HVAC courses, I watched nearly all your videos and was ahead of my class for months. My in-person professor was quite confused on how I've obtained so much knowledge ahead of the courses. I was recruited using EPA 608 and was half way through my HVAC certificate many years ago. Thank you for all you've done! For any newcomers into HVAC world, spend all your time through his videos! I played these videos while eating, driving, etc. Use all the time you have available to further yourself. You won't regret it! Best of luck!

    I hate these things, for the very reason that they bond the condenser coil to the inside of the back panel. It reduces condenser efficiency and is harder on the system as a whole. They do the same thing to the condensers on newer residential chest freezers.

I remember 1986, 1987 have to clean the cooling tower every week or so it was only a three-story building a bakery there were thousands floating on the water just so you know 2024 the year of the cicada.

    Great video, great teacher! My only criticism is that I wouldn't be leaning on the top of the metal fridge with one arm and hand while poking around inside it with the other when plugged in. I was taught to put one hand in my hip pocket whilst poking around live circuits, thus preventing a possibly deadly circuit through my heart.
